I am an artist based in county Offaly near the Kildare border. I specialise in acrylic paintings of pets, animals and livestock. I grew up on the beautiful and rugged Sunshine Coast of Western Canada and have always held an interest in arts and crafts. Now based in the Irish midlands, I find myself surrounded by farmlands and open spaces; as a result, many of my paintings reflect these new surroundings. I began working with reclaimed slate pieces collected from my local area in the summer of 2011. A small display in August that year at the Tullamore Show proved very positive and successful so I decided to continue to work with slate. I enjoy painting on reclaimed slates such as old Bangor Blues but also paint on canvas and other surfaces such as MDF boards. As an artist I find reclaimed slate fascinating to work with. No two pieces are ever the same, neither in colour nor texture. So every painting I do is truly an original piece of artwork. The majority of my artwork is about animals such as dogs and livestock. I also paint landscapes and agricultural subjects such as tractors. All of my slate artwork is based on photographs and I do take on commission work. All I require are the desired dimensions of the finished piece and a high-quality digital or printed photograph to paint from. I will also paint on canvas if that is your preferred choice for a painting. For more information about having a commissioned painting created, please contact me by email or mobile. |
